About
Therapy can be a big step for some people, and I believe I can be a valuable piece for you to accomplish what you’re striving for. My belief is that through therapy, one can receive the emotional/mental support to achieve the goal of living a true authentic life. I take a humanistic approach to therapy and will bring in a few different lenses into the counseling space like cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative, acceptance commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. I strive to give you the space to express yourself unconditionally and assist you in finding a clearer meaning for yourself.
I have graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During my time in school, I worked with young adults in college struggling with burnout, family relational issues, and life adjustments which allowed me to build a strong foundation for basic counseling skills. Since graduating, I have worked primarily with individuals from diverse backgrounds struggling with substance abuse and the co-occurring mental health disorders that are attached with substance abuse like anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, and grief and loss.
Outside of the counseling room, I enjoy playing video games, going to the gym, and reading fantasy adventure books (or listening to the audiobook versions). I enjoy doing service for others and will volunteer in activities and opportunities that support the Black and/or LGBTQIA+ communities.
I’m excited to start this journey with you!
